Prabir Aur Antaheen is a collection of pieces that explore ancient Indian raags on guitar. This collection of songs further brings Prabir's fusion of classical Indian into western settings using guitar, familiar melodic structures, and on occasion some singing to round out the sonic experience. This album is primarily ancient Indian raags fused into melodic structures and surrounded by improvisation caught on record between guitar-played by Prabir-and mridanga-played by Prudhvi Meda. Vocal talents are also made possible on this album by Celie Galante and Kenneka Cook, long time friends and collaborators with Prabir. This album is a truly unique experience and captured in its most sincere form by Russell Lacy at The Virginia Moonwalker studio. The new year's release date is fitting for this album, bringing some fresh energy to the ancient as a way of ushering in something new, along with the year.
In Hindi the title "Prabir Aur Antaheen" literally translates to Prabir and The Endless, mimicking a classic band-name structure here in the west, while also hinting at the vastness of it all. The endless bounds of music acknowledged, and thus a few moments of said vastness has been captured on record for your listening pleasure.
"The things music can do for anyone involved, from performer to listener, is so magical. The impact truly is endless." Prabir Mehta
